Texas Tech Tempe, Az. Dec. 30, 2013 College football can be a roller coaster ride, and in this case we’re strictly talking about the perceptions of the coaches in the Holiday Bowl. Texas Tech’s Kliff Kingsbury entered the season as the young coach returning to his alma mater a year after serving as the offensive coordinator for a Heisman Trophy winner. When Tech started winning, Kingsbury’s stature took off. He was suddenly west Texas’ version of the most interesting man in the world. Arizona State’s Todd Graham has been the target for cheap jokes. After getting his first head coaching job at Rice, he left after a year for four years at Tulsa. Then Graham left for Pittsburgh.

Holiday road toll rises to 18

The Christmas holiday road death toll has risen to 18, with the latest victims including a cyclist who collided with a ute and a woman whose car smashed into a tree. The cyclist, 21, died in Tasmania after he collided with the ute on the West Tamar Highway in Launceston on Sunday morning. The death of the Trevallyn man is the second road fatality in Tasmania during the holiday period. In NSW, a 69-year-old man was killed after losing control of his motorbike when he hit a gravel embankment at Khancoban, near the border of NSW and Victoria, on Sunday morning. The man, who was riding near his son on another motorbike, died at the scene, with the death taking NSW’s road toll to six. A 31-year-old woman died in a car crash southeast of Perth on Saturday night.

Improving Holiday Communication

I am sitting there thinking;”You are kidding, right? These aren’t kids, they are adults.” So what is the appropriate age cut off for sending pictures of your children in holiday cards? Most people I speak with agree that once your kids graduate high school, that’s it for the holiday card. –Let’s talk e-holiday messages. They are easy to send and they are inexpensive, however, they are also incredibly easy to ignore or delete. I know that people often think it is a smart and efficient way of communicating during the holidays, but a quick survey of how many of these e-messages are actually opened or remembered would yield some surprising and disappointing results.
